Grind Time New York: Wreck The Halls

Grind Time New York

Wreck The Halls

Roosevelt vs Troy Brown

My favorite battle from Grind Time New York’s Wreck The Halls. Troy Brown is a dope battle emcee but I was surprised how well Roosevelt did. The dude is fairly unknown in the battle rap game. I give it up to Troy Brown, he always has fresh punchlines. This battle was no different. Hands down one of the dopest battles from Grind Time New York Wreck The Halls.

Grind Time New York

Wreck The Halls

Rich Dolarz vs D.N.A.

Another dope emcee battle from the Grind Time New York Division’s Wreck The Halls event featuring two dudes you might not heard of, Rich Dolarz and D.N.A. Hosted by Pumpkinhead aka PH the president of Grind Time New York. Although this battle was one of the undercards at this event it was most definitely one of the illest. That being said, it was not the best battle of the night. Check out some of the other dope battles from Grind Time New York Wreck The Halls below.

Grind Time New York

Wreck The Halls

Jay Focus vs Amzilla

Jay Focus is a Christian Emcee which takes away from his ability to battle hard, that being said he didn’t really stand a chance against Amzilla. Jay Focus got hit with hard lines and couldn’t really come back. Amzilla took him out properly on the double. Another fresh battle from Grind Time New York Wreck The Halls event. Props to Pumpkinhead for throwing the event, it was ill. But we aint done yet. Below are even more videos from Grind Time New York’s Wreck The Halls. Check it.

Grind Time New York

Wreck The Halls

D.N.A. & Soul Khan vs Rone & ZM pt.1

Part one of a fresh promo battle at Grind Time New York’s Wreck The Halls New Years Eve event. It was an ill battle and ended up going to OT. Check out the conclusion below. These dudes are some of the best New York Battle Emcees.

Grind Time New York

Yo thanks for coming through and checking out the videos from Grind Time New York Wreck The Halls Event. There are a lot more where they came from. These New York Battles are hard as stone. Dudes out there are killin it. Props to Pumpkinhead and all the emcee’s that participated in the event. Mad props to Troy Brown and Roosevelt, their battle was the best one in my opinion. Shouts out to everyone holding it down for Grind Time New York. Come back soon to peep more ish from Grind Time East Coast. Bookmark it yo.

Jessica Alba MacheteMachete “Illegal” Movie Trailer

Starring Jessica Alba, Michelle Rodriguez, Robert De Niro & More

“Robert De Niro, Jessica Alba and Michelle Rodriguez fight for immigration reform in this new edited trailer for “Machete”. The immigration reform law is affecting everybody and even Hollywood is speaking out on this important issue. The law is unjust and we need to keep on protesting and letting our voices be heard about this immoral and un-American legislation. Either way it is important that we don’t let this one slide, keep the pressure as long as we can so they”

I hope this is a real movie and not just a spoof trailer making a statement against Arizona’s new immigration laws. Props to WSHH for having this on their daily video feed.

C4 vs Juss Freestyle Battle

“Battle from Grind Time Now’s “March Madness” – Dope battle from two of grind time’s young gunnaz. Grind Time and World Star Hip Hop have been working together for a while now. I for one think it s a good match. WSHH needs more fly battle raps on its daily video feed.

WSHH Exclusive

Jay Rock – One, Two

This is a dope song from Jay Rock. The song is about staying on your grind, never hustling where you sleep and a lot of solid street wisdom. It made our top picks of WSHH today for a lot of reasons. One being that the song reminds me a lot of Dead Prez. And I am a big Dead Prez fan. Props to Jay Rock, and to World Star Hip Hop.

Grind Time Midwest

Grind Time Midwest

Real Deal & Fresco vs Tut & Double/Deuce

Grind Time Midwest promo battle from The Windy City Takeover Part 2 in August 2009 in Chicago hosted by Sonny Bamboo and Marv Won. Grind Time Midwest has some of the dopest battle emcees all through out the roster. This 2 on 2 promo battle showcases some of that talent. Hosted by Grind Time Midwest’s own Sonny Bamboo and Marv Won and featuring some of Grind Time Midwest’s most notable emcees this battle is on of my favorites to come out of the division.

Grind Time Midwest

G Souldier vs Moodswangz

Grind Time Midwest battle at The Bassment in Chicago, IL on August 29, 2009 between G Souldier from St. Louis and Moodswangz from Chicago. I haven’t seen a lot of Moodswangz or G Souldier but both these cats held it down for the Grind Time Midwest Division. It was a close battle, either dude could have taken it. You want to know who won, you will have to watch for your self. Grind Time Midwest was represented to the fullest in this battle. Ill ish son.

Grind Time Midwest

George Jetson vs Roadblock Pt. 1

Grind Time Midwest battle at The Bassment in Chicago, IL on August 29, 2009 between George Jetson from Minneapolis and Roadblock from Chicago. George Jetson is an unlikely battle emcee. From his general appearance to his name the dude exudes “square”. But he is original, comes with dope punchlines and hits other emcee’s hard. This battle was another fresh battle from Grind Time’s Midwest Division. I gotta say the cats from this division are growing on me. I see a lot of talent in Grind Time Midwest.

Check out some of the other videos we have from Grind Time Midwest

MTV2 World Hip Hop Championship

DIZASTER vs YOUNG CHOP MTV 2 One World Hip Hop Championship
Not to be confused with Jump Off TV’s World Rap Championship, MTV2’s 1 World Hip Hop Championship gives emcees one thirty second round to prove themselves in a tournament style bracket. This battle between Grind Time Rap Battle King Dizaster and some nobody is quick but good. Sorry for the low quality, the rhymes are high quality. MC Generic aka Young Chop should not have been allowed to enter this battle in the first place. MTV is not very well known for their top quality screening process. Props to Dizaster the dude is a beast.

Sam I Am self promotion video for his participation in MTV2’s World Hip Hop Championship

Jump Off TV’s Final Round Promo Trailer. Jump Off’s World Rap Championships are 2 on 2 battles featuring emcees from all over the world. It is a real dope rap battle competition with very worthy emcees throughout every division. It is not to be confused with MTV2 World Hip Hop Championship.

Grind Time Now Freestyle Battles

Grind Time Now Presents

D.N.A. & Soul Khan vs Rone & ZM pt.1

Promo 2 on 2 match from Grind Time East Coast (GTEC) Wreck The Halls. Grind Time Now Freestyle Battles are always off the hook. This one is no different. Grind Time East Coast Division brings it with some of the best freestyle battle emcees out there.

Grind Time Now Presents

Rheteric Ramirez vs Tiger Ty

Rheteric Ramirez (Machina Muerte) takes on the Jungle’s Tiger Ty at Grind Time West Coast’s BOLA3. Grind Time West Coast division puts up some of the dopest freestyle battles in the Grind Time freestyle battle rap league. We have put up a lot of freestyle battles from BOLA 3 but this one is definitely dope. While only an under card, this freestyle battle made a big impact.

Grind Time Now Presents

Sun Tzu vs Yojan

Bridge City Battles 4: Another impromptu battle!!! Fresh off the try outs Sun Tzu decides moments before this to battle Yojan repping the church of god. These two are some of Grind Times illest freestyle battle emcees. Peep the video to find out how this freestyle battle ends. Portland’s Bridge City Battle number 4 was off the chains dope. The Grind Time Northwest division has got some of the best freestyle battle emcees out there.

Freestyle Battles

Grind Time Now / 9Five Eyewear Presents: Rugged vs Rone

Grind Time Now and 9Five Eyewear Present

Rugged vs Rone

Battle from GTEC March Madness event. Rugged messed up real bad in the first round but bounced back. Rone murdered Rugged hands down. A dope battle, but it was mostly one sided.

Grind Time Now Presents

Godzilla vs Syahboy

(GT Georgia Tryout Battle)
Another tryout battle which took place as a promo at the Asian Hip Hop Summit in Atlanta, GA. Former Freestyle Friday Champ Syahboy takes on GT newcomer Godzilla. Don’t miss this one!

Grind Time Georgia

Godzilla vs Diligent

Battle from GTGA’s “Armageddon”. Diligent and Godzilla both had dope lines with fresh punches. It was really close but in the end it had to go to Godzilla. He just had more punchlines and more swagger. Done in three rounds, another dope battle from Grind Time Georgia.

Grind Time MC Battles

Grind Time Now Presents: Sonny Bamboo & Real Deal vs Yung ZM & Rone

Grind Time Midwest

Sonny Bamboo & Real Dealvs Yung ZM & Rone

Sonny Bamboo & Real Deal (Grind Time Midwest aka GTMW) face Yung ZM & Rone (Grind Time East Coast aka GTEC) in a main event 2-on-2 battle from I STILL GET IT IN OHIO hosted by Zero Star. A dope battle featuring one of Grind Times biggest stars Sonny Bamboo. Yung ZM hit Sonny Bamboo and Real Deal hard. I gotta give it up for Yung ZM and Rone.

Grind Time Florida

Maniphest Destne vs T2 Good

Battle from GTN’s “Broward Beatdown 2″ featuring Maniphest Destne verses T2 Good. Maniphest Destne had a few good lines in the first round but T2 Good had more clever punchlines and a lot more swagger. Second round went to Maniphest Destne for sure though. And he killed it in the last round too. This is the first ever rematch in Grind Time history and its good to see Maniphest Destne win in the rematch.

Grind Time West Coast

Fox vs QuDawg

The Jungle’s Fox takes on QuDawg in this GTWC mc battle. Fox is a dope rapper but he didn’t hit QuDawg with any punchlines. QuDawg had punchlines and better variations to his flow and delivery. Both the dudes fucked up a lot. Especially QuDawg at the end of round 2, he fell off before the round was over. The problem with gangsta rappers in battles is there is too much huffing and puffing and not enough rapping. I would have to give it QuDawg though. Word

Grind Time Now Presents: Rap Battles

Grind Time Now/9Five Eyewear Presents

Z.M. vs Drect

Co-founder and CEO of Grind Time Now, Drect steps into the ring against Z.M. one of the top battlers in the Grind Time East Coast division. This is a promo battle with 3 non-timed rounds. Drect serves up a couple dope ass battle verses for Z.M. This is an ill rap battle from the co-founder of the largest rap battle league in the world.

Grind Time Now/9Five Eyewear Presents

Vicci vs Screem

Two newcomers go at it in a dope battle from March Madness. Grind Time’s March Madness is probably one of the biggest rap battle spectacles the world has ever seen. Vicci and Screem do their thing and put on a good show. This is a pretty decent rap battle.

Grind Time Now Presents

Elfamail vs Tut

Elfamail (Chicago, IL) faces Tut (Cleveland, OH) in a promo battle at I STILL GET IT IN OHIO hosted by Zero Star. Another dope rap battle from Grind Time Midwest. Elfamail and Tut both rocked this battle with passion. I like Tut for the winner but Elfamail had some amunition in this rap battle for sure. Props to both emcees.

Rap Battles

Grind Time Now Presents: Emcee Battles

Grind Time Now Presents

Young P-ro vs Scotty P

Promo battle from Gring Time South’s “Broward Beatdown.” Grind Time South is a tough division, Young P-ro and Scotty P are definitely good competitors. Both emcees could have won this one. Another dope emcee battle from Grind Time South. Check back frequently for more battles from Broward Beatdown and other Grind Time South emcee battles.

Grind Time Now Presents

Automatic vs T Money Bagz

Battle from Grind Time East Coast Wreck The Halls event featuring Automatics vs T Money Bagz. These cats are both dope freestyle emcees. I thought it was a toss up. Wreck The Halls was a dope event. Stay tuned to Bad Habitat Music for more battles from Grind Time East Coast’s Wreck The Halls event.

Grind Time Now/9Five Eyewear Presents

Deacon Frost vs Swave Sevah

One of the main events from Grind Time Now’s “March Madness” at South Paw in Brooklyn, NY. Swave Sevah takes on Deacon Frost who is making his first appearance in Grind Time Now. Dope battle! Hosted by Drect, Babs & Lady Luck. For his first appearance in the Grind Time Now league Deacon Frost held his own.

Grind Time Now Presents MC Battle Raps

Grind Time Now / 9Five Eyewear Presents

Big Kannon vs Troy Brown

Battle from GTNY’s “March Madness”. Troy Brown seemed nervous or something. His flows were almost too fast at some points, you couldn’t catch his punchlines. Big Kannon didn’t have as many punchlines though. Unlike other Grind Time Battles this one was judged by the fans. You gotta log onto the website to see who won.

Grind Time Now Presents

G Souldier vs Mike Flamez

G Souldier (St. Louis, MO) faces Mike Flamez (Toledo, OH) in the Windy City Takeover 3 hosted by Sonny Bamboo. G Souldier didn’t quite cut it for me. I felt like Mike Flamez hit him with more punchlines.

Grind Time Now Presents

Dirty Dem vs Hemisphere

FL battle vet Dirty Dem takes on Hemisphere, who has taken a little break from battling, but plans to come back with a vengeance. This is a 3-round promo battle. Hemisphere hit Dirty Dem with way more punchlines, and for the most part they were more clever… until round two. Dirty Dem won it for me in round two with better delivery and some of the best lines of the battle. and Hemisphere just kept using fat lines which get pretty old after three rounds.

Grind Time Now Battles

Grind Time Now Presents MC Battle Raps

Grind Time Now Presents

Hollow Da Don vs Okwerdz

Hollow Da Don is a dope battle emcee. I would dare to say that he is one of the top 5 emcees in the Grind Time Rap Battle league. Sometimes it sounds like he is screaming like a girl but the lyrics make up for it. The lines about the wedding and the flower girl are vicious. Okwerdz handled him pretty well though. I liked Okwerdz in this battle. I would have given it to him if it werent for Hollow Da Don’s line about “wrestling with two left knees… can’t suplex me”. That being said Grind Time Now needs a little more Okwerdz Battles in my opinion. For that matter Grind Time Now needs more Hollow Da Don Battles too.

Grind Time Now Presents

NoCanDo vs DirtBag Dan

Main Event Battle from GTWC BOLA3 event on New Years Eve. West Coast veteran Nocando returns to the battle scene to take on 7-1 Dirtbag Dan. DirtBag Dan is sick but damn NoCanDo has a million rhymes and a huge vocabulary. Its hard to call it, DirtBag Dan had better punchlines but NoCanDo blew me away with his rhyme schemes and he definitely had some good punchlines too.

Grind Time Now Presents

Complex vs Prince Eazy

Complex (Coney Island, NY) faces Prince Eazy (Chicago, IL) in a main event promo battle at I STILL GET IT IN OHIO hosted by Sonny Bamboo and Big Kannon. Complex doesn’t got the fan club and cheer leaders that Prince Eazy does, and he aint nearly as annoying. Eazy has some good lines but Complex beat him.

Looks like another XXL Magazine Freshman Class of 09 dropout Is …

XXL Magazine declared the freshman class of 2009 last year with acts like, Kid Cudi, Ace Hood, and Asher Roth leading the way. The class also featured Cory Gunz, Blu, Mickey Factz, and Charles Hamilton.

Labels are struggling to find revenue streams & many of the freshman aren’t making it to their Sophomore year.

Asher Roth’s expected hit with Keri Hilson flopped on billboard and he’s struggled to find the formula to move on from his one hit wonder “I Love College”. He’s put out three singles since, featuring the before mentioned Keri Hilson, Cee-Lo, and “Lark on My Go Cart” a colossal failure. Rumors put Asher on the job market as soon as Christmas, SRC isn’t happy with his flops and his image is noticeably absent from the label’s home page.

The Decline of Live Hip-Hop on Benz and a Backpack
by Dizzy posted in THINK PIECES
“Two summers ago I was lucky enough to catch the Paid Dues Tour at New York City’s Nokia Theatre in Times Square. I was particularly excited for it because the lineup included a bunch of artists I’d never seen in concert before: Kidz in the Hall, dudes from Boot Camp Clik, Blackalicious, GZA, all culminating in what I hoped would be a satisfying set from the godfather of hip-hop, Rakim.

I remember the show with particular clarity because my boys and I endured an hour-and-a-half-long train ride that should’ve only lasted twenty-five minutes. The stifling June heat had us sweating our shirts out while we were held in station after station by train dispatchers. People in our car were fanning themselves with whatever they had: Yankees and Mets fitteds, celebrity gossip magazines, folded-up copies of the Daily News (with a picture of a smiling Barack Obama- who’d just secured the Democratic Presidential nomination- under a headline that read: ‘HISTORY!’).” … Read More

The Saurus vs Dumbfoundead Grind Time Battle

The Saurus vs Dumbfoundead

Grind Time Battles

Great battle. Hands down The Saurus won. He dealt some real viscous blows to Dumbfoundead. His Asian jokes killed. Dumbfounded had a few dope punchlines to but I would say that over all the punchlines were 3 to 1 in The Saurus’ favor.  Another great battle from Grind Time.

Other Comments:

From Asian Rap Worldwide

Here’s one of the main events on Grind Time’s The Battle of the Bay: Dumbfoundead VS The Saurus, who is a 2-time Rap World Champion. This freestyle battle was held in Oakland, California on February 28, 2009. Dumbfoundead’s strategy was to poke fun of The Saurus’ face and complexion. The Saurus used a lot of Asian jokes, but I thought they were funny as hell. It was a great battle and in the end The Saurus was declared the winner.

From Canibus Central

Yes, the saurus is the best. two time scribble jam winner, two time WRC winner, two time rap olympics winner. he consistently has the most ridiculous punchlines and flips and is just murderous.  illmac is also ridiculous but to me is just a tiny bit below him. illmac also makes dope music if you haven’t peeped it. can’t say the same for saurus though lol

Somebody sent me a rap recently online and asked for my input. I liked it so I posted it for y’all to see. Post a number between 1 and 10 so I can give him more feedback.

dosnt matter your race were all shooting folk
look at earth from space red spots and smoke
cause chemical warfare is dissolving granite
so its not a nice view our revolving planet
a choice between arms or a cure for aids
they be telling the pharms they picked pure grenades
to bombarb rebel brigades so they can withstand
for four more decades go on think of this
when your pissing beers or arugueing over ****
and dissing your peers the young deaths and fears
their blood sweat and tears many threats and no cheers
no highs only the lows the sad crys and blows
from their head to toes till dead holding a rose
teethmarks in nazi flags the worlds bite its style
stealing to gain control like the gold from the nile
innocent killing to make a pence and a shilling
theirs good leaders and bad the gent and the villian
but they are some who are literally making a killing
or is it just survival the game of life and death
