Jay-Z and Island Def Jam Chairman Antonio “L.A.” Reid hosted a post-Grammy dinner at Italian eatery Cecconi’s in West Hollywood, Calif., on Sunday (Jan. 31). The guest list was packed with A-listers including Beyoncé, Jennifer Lopez, Rihanna, Mary J. Blige, Ciara, Usher, and Justin Bieber.
Jay-Z commands a stage. The influential rapper performed for 12,000 fans Tuesday night at American Airlines Center, bringing with him a full band including a horn section, percussionist and DJ.
A skyscraper-like light display at the back of the stage immediately looked like the New York skyline, a nod to his hometown, of course. A variety of images were projected throughout the two-hour show, making it all the more striking.
Jay-Z had the lower platform to himself and he filled it up robustly. He’s tall, imposing, an intense presence. His rapping flow is fast but clear. He doesn’t chew his words. (AllHipHop News) Faith Evans has been hit with a lawsuit over personal home videos of Christopher “Notorious B.I.G.” Wallace.
Kaushi Entertainment and Dro-Entertainment filed their lawsuit in L.A. County Superior Court, claiming that they struck a deal with Evans in February of 2007 to sell the personal videos featuring B.I.G. for $30,000.
Kaushi Entertainment claims they were supposed to purchase the films from RocDarling Films, a company owned by B.I.G.‘s associate, Damion “D-Roc” Butler.

Priority Records helped define West coast rap with acts on the roster like Eazy-E, NWA, The D.O.C., Mack 10, Ras Kass, Yo Yo, Ice Cube and others.
The new release highlights a number of landmark recordings, including earlier singles by West coast architects like King Tee, Kid Frost, Low Profile, Luniz and others.

Federal Investigation to Probe Jay-Z Racino Venture
(AllHipHop News) Jay-Z’s relationship with NY Governor David Paterson is one of the points of interest in a federal investigation into AEG’s multi-billion dollar deal for the Aqueduct Race Track racino.
The issue revolves around whether the bid selection process was unethical. Questions have arose following AEG’s successful bid since they courted Jay-Z, a good friend of Gov. Paterson, several months before the racino selection was completed.
Last month, Governor Patterson awarded AEG (Aqueduct Entertainment Group) with the contract to upgrade the existing Aqueduct Race Track venue, the only one located within the New York City limits.
