Surreal Music was founded in the wake of the tumultuous disintegration of Northwest supergroup The Surrealest. Surreal Music was founded by former Surrealest members Dru-Manchu and Mindskillz in collaboration with Flawless and Lady. Flawless and Dru-Manchu had been making waves around town as the group Bad Habitat and Surreal Music came about the same time as Bad Habitat, beginning as a tenative independant label home and evolving into a legitimate publishing and promotional company and artistic advancement organization. Since then, the members of the coalition have been interconnected in their efforts to build Surreal Music and Bad Habitat into a household icon of hip-hop, without sacrificing the quality of the music they create. From their humble beginnings of opening for empty shows to headlining on tour, performing on stages with hip hop greats like Slick Rick and Canibus, and gaining the respect of the hip hop heads of Portland and the Northwest as a whole, Bad Habitat and Surreal Music are on their way to accomplishing their goals.

Surreal Music currently has a many respectable artists on roster. From marketing guru and producer Mindskillz to freestyle captain and host extraordinaire Northorn Lights, social activist and multi-talented Conflic Theory to the lovely booking and promotional face of the organization, Lady of Surreal Music and her hip hop R&B duo Matriarx with femcee Goodness Gracious. Look for Surreal Music to make major moves in 2010.
