SNL Digital Short
Boombox Song
Yo this video is funny as hell. SNL Digital Short Boombox song is like a hip-pop rap song about a magic boombox that makes people dance like crazy. I’m still trying to forget about the retirement home scene. A boombox can change the world, a boombox is not a toy.

This week’s Digital Short on SNL featured another track off of The Lonely Island’s 2009 album, “Boombox”. The band sold enough copies of the album following the success of the “I’m on a Boat” Digital Short, so there’s a good chance that you’ve heard this song already, but that doesn’t mean you’re prepared for seeing it acted out…including that bizarre, David Lynch-ian ending at an old folks’ home. See it below, my gentle Examiner readers…

Many have been anticipating the arrival of SNL’s Digital Short: Boombox and they didn’t disappoint.
Andy and Strokes frontman Julian Casablancas lay down a cautionary tale.

I was willing to buy Lonely Island as a short-form SNL video group, but now that they’ve got a full-length album coming out (titled Incredibad, out tomorrow via Universal), the group’s starting to wear on me. “Jizz In My Pants” was pretty funny, “I’m In A Boat” featuring T-Pain less so, and now there’s this less-than-funny song, titled “Boombox” featuring Julian Casablancas of the Strokes singing about old people dancing to songs from a boombox, and then deciding to get freaky (which, as Casablancas says, is totally nasty).
“Boombox” might have worked better as a clip on SNL, but as far as just audio goes, it’s worse than pretty much all of Lonely Island’s output so far (it’s way too obvious, and is kind of trite), and less funny than anything by Flight of the Conchords, who are Lonely Island’s unofficial competition.
