Rhymesayers Entertainment Hard Hitter Jake One drops another hit with this track. Home has a real smooth mellow beat and the featuring emcees do it justice. The song is about the home (Seattle) of the featured artists. Jake One got a real good producer to film this music video, the production is top notch. This is my personal favorite Jake One Music Video. Jake One is such a dope producer.

Production and the Program

Jake One’s long history of production began in 1992, when he was inspired to begin creating beats by Sensimilla producer Hussein and Vitamin D (Derrick Brown). After collaborating with underground hip-hop artists Boom Bap Project and Sharpshooters, Jake’s production was usurped by the commercial world of rap—artists 50 Cent, Kutfather, Snoop Dogg, G-Unit and E-40 have either directly featured his production on their albums or highlighted his work on full-lengths and compilations. Jake’s beats appear on records released by Rhymesayers Entertainment, Quannum, Epitaph Records, EMI Canada, Interscope and Columbia.

Crossfader’s Darek Mazzone interviewed Jake in his Seattle Capitol Hill studio, where he discussed his vinyl obsession, musical modus operandi, and the stealthy and humble way in which he represents Seattle hip-hop for the United States in totality.

In the independent music industry it is important to market your new album in as many places as possible. Typically the independent artist would market themselves on social media networks like Myspace.com, Facebook, ReverbNation, Sound Click, etc. But in todays market those networks are already so saturated with other independent artists doing the exact same thing. They broke up the site into a bunch of different categories which are really easy to navigate and totally intuitive. I personally like how it breaks them down into Throw Ups, Street Art and Characters. Its worth it to check out whether or not your a graffiti artist. Compared to Art Crimes, Fat Cap is far better.

As a hip hop blog it is pretty good. I don’t visit the site very much myself but they do have a huge following so therefore it has earned a spot among our top hip hop blogs.

In spite of the deceptive name this hip hop blog does not film or have much to do with film unless there is some news about a new music video. It is however one of my preferred hip hop blogs because they cover real hiphop like Mos Def, RZA, Common, etc. There is a page on the site dedicated to hiphop artists in television and film. I guess that’s where the name comes from.

Tha Original Hip Hop on Blogspot has been around forever and has a vast library of information and albums. If you are looking for a specific album or song for an artist this is a great place to look. That being said, there isn’t a lot of news or original articles here. Mostly just album covers and song lists. As hip hop blogs go its pretty weak but it is an old dog that, while can’t learn new tricks, its old hip hop blog tricks work pretty well.

The hip hop website features a wide variety of videos, interviews, album reviews, hip hop fashion reviews, and a ton more.

24 Hour Hip Hop covers much more mainstream hip hop compared to some of my favorite hip hop websites. That being said it is probably the best of the mainstream sites. There is a good balance of hip hop babes, music news, album reviews and all that. One thing that separates 24 Hour Hip Hop from some of the other mainstream hip hop websites is the fact that they cover a lot of New York Rappers, and give some special attention to the Latin Community. Most other hip hop culture websites are over saturated with southern rap. 24 Hour Hip Hop stands out in that regard. Other than that it is your typical mainstream hip hop news feed with up to date music news about gossip, concerts, beef, etc. The Name, 24 Hour Hip Hop, is appropriate considering the nature of the website and the constant feed of information every 24 hours. The Visionaries is a political hip hop group from Los Angeles, California. The group is notable for focusing on positive issues as well as the diverse ethnic origins of its members. The group formed in 1995, and have since released four full-length albums on Up Above Records. The six members of the group have collectively released over twenty solo and side projects. They have collaborated and performed with many other hip-hop artists, including Wu-Tang Clan, Nas, Common, Mos Def, Talib Kweli, Dilated Peoples, Taktloss, De La Soul, Blackalicious, Jean Grae, Psycho Realm, Playalitical, Jay Dee aka J Dilla, and Jurassic 5. SXSW 2010 Quick Hits, Day 4: Street Sweeper Social Club

With a second stage set up at the back end of Stubbs, there was only a momentary break after Jakob Dylan’s set at Rachel Ray’s in-demand day party at Stubbs BBQ before Street Sweeper Social Club launched into an incendiary set that heated up the chilly afternoon.

Guitarist Tom Morello has put his Night Watchman folk experiment on the back burner and moved back to doing what he does best, which is rocking out Rage Against the Machine-style. The band’s aggressive and heavy sound clearly recalled Rage, yet with the urban flavor that only the Coup’s Boots Riley can provide in the vocal slot. The opening tune featured a “Manic Depression” vibe from Morello on guitar, while the second tune seemed cut from the same cloth as some early Rage classics. The crowd was instantly enthralled, with fists in the air and cameras out to take pictures…

Another fresh mc battle from Grind Time Now at the Battle Of L.A. 3 aka BOLA 3 featuring Dizaster vs Vision. This one was not the planned battle, it was instead an impromptu freestyle battle between Dizaster and Vision. Vision stepped in for Jin because he apparently didn’t show up/backed out. Either way it was a dope freestyle battle. Its hard to call if you had to, but since it wasn’t a scheduled battle, it doesn’t get judged.

An insider spotted Snoop arriving at the fete at M2 Ultralounge with an entourage of more than 20 and a four-man security team, which clogged W. 29th St. so badly that the NYPD came to investigate.
