SNL Digital Short – Throw It On The Ground

“Throw It On The Ground” Music Video

Another dope track from Andy Samberg and the folks at SNL Digital Shorts. I am not sure if this is on the Incredibad album but if it’s not it should be. The Lonely Island is probably the best (and only) hip hop parody group ever. “Throw It On The Ground”, while not as famous as some others such as “Jizz In My Pants” or “I’m On A Boat” it is one of the groups better song. I am unsure whether or not it is even a TLI song, if anyone knows please comment. Other hip hop greats from TLI include “Like A Boss” (one of my personal favorites) and “Bing Bong Brothers”, and awesome spoof of the Ying Yang Twins “Whisper” song.

SNL Digital Short “Throw It On The Ground”

A Facebook page was created following the release of “Throw It On The Ground”. Here are some of the funny updates that were posted on the page:

“Due to the increase in public debate I took a document and made a full analysis of the pros and cons of the US healthcare bill. After careful and deliberate consideration I made a list of all items on both sides. I then took the list ripped it up and thre it on the ground”

“Well, this page has gotten so popular that an internet marketer asked me to post some links and ads on the status bar. I took his ads and threw them on the GROUND! And his whole computer too!!! You CANT BUY ME MR. SPAM MAN!! My fans are not fore sale!”

“Maaaaaann – I am from New York and its been raining for DAYS AND DAYS – why cant nature just take this rain and Throw it on the Ground!!! Weatherman- I’m not going to be a part of your system! What I gonna do with this? Swim in it?”

“The Freedoms that allow this page to exist must be protected and patriotism and duty must come above all else. Therefor today, I solemly decided to go into my local Amry recruiters office, I asked for enlistment papers. I carefully reviewed them and then threw them on the ground! What do you think I’m stupid? The m…ilitary is the system too! What you want me to do, shoot people? Maaaaan”

Throw It On The Ground Lyrics

Lyrics to “I Threw it on the Ground”

I was walkin’ through the city streets
and a man walks up to me and hands me the latest energy drink
Run faster. Jump Higher.
Man, I’m not gonna let you poison me.

I threw it on the ground!
You must think I’m a joke!
I ain’t gonna be part of this system!
Man, pump that garbage in another man’s veins!

I go to my favorite hot dog stand
and the dude says, “you come here all the time! Here’s one for free.”
I said, “Man, what I look like, a charity case?”

I took it, and threw it on the ground!
I don’t need your handouts!
I’m an adult!
Please, you can’t buy me hot dog man!

At the farmer’s market with my so-called “girlfriend”
She hands me her cellphone, says it’s my dad.
Man, this ain’t my dad. This is a cellphone!

I threw it on the ground!
What you think I’m stupid?
I’m not a part of this system!
My dad’s not a phone! Duh!

Some poser hands me a cake at a birthday party
What you want me to do with this, eat it?

Happy birthday to the ground!
I threw the rest of the cake too!
Welcome to the real world, jackass!

So many things to throw on the ground
Like this, and this, and that. And even this.
I’m an adult!

Two Hollywood phonys trying to give me their autograph.
Ground! Nobody wants your autograph! Phonys!

Then the two phonys got up. Turns out they had a taser.
And they tased me in the butt hole.
I fell to the ground.
The phonys didn’t let up.
Tasing on my butt hole, over and over.
I was screaming and squirming
My butt hole was on fire!

The moral of this story is: you can’t trust the system!

Man!

Bomb The System – A Film About Graffiti Culture

Video trailer for the award winning movie Bomb The System

Bomb The System

A Film About Street Art and Graffiti Culture

A Drops Entertainment production. (International sales: The Film Sales Company, New York.) Produced by Ben Rekhi, Sol Tryon. Executive producers, Kanwal Rekhi, Mark Webber. Co-executive producer, Rob Bethge. Co-producers, Smriti Mundhra, Theo Sena. Directed, written by Adam Bhala Lough.

Bomb The System Graffiti Movie

Synopsis: “The average New Yorker sees upwards of 50 pieces of graffiti a day. But they never stop to think about the stories behind those pieces… this is one of those stories.” Bomb the System is the first… “The average New Yorker sees upwards of 50 pieces of graffiti a day. But they never stop to think about the stories behind those pieces… this is one of those stories.” Bomb the System is the first feature in over 20 years to delve into the world of graffiti art. Bomb The System, shot entirely on the streets of New York City, is the feature debut of 23-year-old writer/director Adam Bhala Lough. Mark Webber (People I Know, Storytelling, The Laramie Project) leads a talented young ensemble cast as Blest, a 19-year-old graffiti writer fresh out of high school with no ambition for the future. New York City is Blest’s playground. He spends his days stealing spray paint from local hardware stores – and his nights getting high and “bombing” the streets with his graffiti crew. He is the most wanted writer on the NYPD Vandal Squad’s hit list, and at the same time, is attracting attention from the local gallery scene. But things quickly turn ugly when 15-year-old Lune, the youngest member of Blest’s crew, is arrested and brutalized by the NYPD. The crew retaliates by waging an all out “graffiti war” against the city: a war that ends up costing more than one life in the end. Bomb the System is a true New York story – a cinematic poem dedicated to the art of graffiti, and to the city where it all began more than two decades ago.

Bomb The System Poster

Bomb the System is a drama film written and directed by Adam Bhala Lough, which was released to film festivals in 2002 and American theaters in 2005. It revolves around a group of graffiti artists living in New York City who decide to make a mark on the city, and stars Mark Webber, Gano Grills, Jaclyn DeSantis, Jade Yorker, Bönz Malone and Kumar Pallana. Bomb the System was the first major fictional feature film about the subculture of graffiti art since Wild Style was released 1982. Several well-known graffiti artists participated in the making of Bomb The System including Lee Quinones, Cope2 and Chino BYI. The film’s score and soundtrack were composed by El-P.

In January 2004 Bomb The System was nominated for an Independent Spirit Award for Best First Feature.

Bomb The System Hip Hop MovieBomb The System

A Hip Hop Culture Film

There is an inherent appeal to this kind of subculture of reckless endangerment, social disobedience, and vandalism for the sake of cultural expression and artistic freedom that has a particular romanticism about it, like reinventing the Robin Hood mythology armed with spray paint cans. Bomb the System shows the culture in an admiring, often flattering, light but never quite glorifies the lifestyle either. It is always careful to illustrate the futile cyclical nature of a bomber’s life to counteract the radical appeal, at ease in showing both the glamorous and destructive side of suburban graffiti art. Whether Bomb The System is “authentic” or not seems a moot point, because Bomb the System never feels fake. The graffiti art, featured by various artists too numerous to name, is nothing short of jaw-dropping, and the soundtrack (composed by E-LP) is fantastic.

The Lonely Island “Like A Boss”

“Like A Boss” Music Video

Like A Boss (ft. Seth Rogen) – Uncensored Version

The latest music video from comedy troupe The Lonely Island parody hip hop group is hilarious. Without a doubt one of their best ever. Other greats include “I’m On A Boat” and “A Boombox Can Save The World”.

http://www.itunes.com/thelo… The new single from The Lonely Island’s debut album “INCREDIBAD” In stores now! Featuring Seth Rogen. The Lonely Island is Andy Samberg, Akiva Schaffer & Jorma Taccone

About The Lonely Island

AKA “TLI”

The Lonely Island (TLI) is an American comedy troupe composed of Akiva Schaffer, Jorma Taccone, and Andy Samberg, best known for its musical parodies. The group is from Berkeley, CA, and is currently based in New York City. The group began creating live comedy skits in junior high school and continued to do so, expanding its repertoire to comedic shorts, music parody (both songs and videos), and one full-length television pilot, before coming to the attention of Lorne Michaels of Saturday Night Live (SNL). Once on the show, they wrote “Lazy Sunday,” a better-produced music parody video much like the group’s previous work. It became an instant Internet success, and led to the creation of similar digital shorts that also aired on Saturday Night Live. The Emmy-winning “Dick in a Box”, “Jizz in My Pants”, “Like a Boss” and the Grammy-nominated “I’m on a Boat” have subsequently had huge success both on the show and on the Internet and prompted the recording and release of an album, Incredibad, in which the group moves in a more musical direction.

Asher Roth Diss Song

Let it be clear that I am commenting as an impartial and only artistically interested party.

Underground Rapper Copywrite recently started beef with another white rapper by the name of Asher Roth, maybe you have heard of him. He beasted on a track dissing the new white magic. Copywrite doesn’t like Asher because he thinks he sounds like Eminem, which he does. That being said he doesn’t just sound like Eminem his flow, rhyme schemes and tone of voice sound exactly like Em. Personally, not a big Ash fan myself, I do like some of his songs, and I feel like his voice, while very similar to Eminem’s is slightly more tolerable in large doses ( Pause a moment to allow for the boo’s to quiet )

Anyway, Asher then leaked that “Silly Boy” track which was a pretty weak beef track in my opinion. Copywrite heard it and caught feelings. Then along came Copywrite again with the dagger.

“Lazy Sunday” started it. “Dick in a Box” took the internet by storm. What’s the next big hit song for the SNL Digital Short team? The Natalie Portman rap didn’t exactly take because it didn’t have a catchy chorus, “Iran (So Far)” was too specific of a joke to be referenced over and over.

WSHH – World Star Hip Hop

The World of Hip Hop

WSHH brings you daily hip hop videos from all over the world. From your average Underground Artists latest music video to the most elite emcees of hip hop, it’s all there on World Star Hip Hop.

World Star Hip Hop drops the best urban videos (behind the scenes type of videos and booty shakin’ honeys). World Star Hip Hop has got a lot of the newest rap music videos too, however a lot of them like the one above (Jake One featuring Freeway and Brother Ali) are censored. Download and embed the latest hiphop music videos from World Star Hip Hop.

Personally I don’t find a whole lot of music on World Star Hip Hop that I like. But like the Jake One cut above there are a few diamonds in that rough. Most of their videos are either news clippings that have little to nothing to do with hip hop (14 year old gets beat by 16 year old boyfriend… okay, what does that have to do with hip hop?) or they are booty shaking videos of groupies. Also World Star Hip Hop has a lot of mainstream type music videos which I don’t much like any way. Other than that it is one of the best places online to find videos of hip hop music and behind the scenes footage of film shoots, interviews and more. Bookmark this post and drop a comment below. Bing Bong Brothers

The Lonely Island

Bing Bong Brothers Music Video

One of the latest music videos from The Lonely Island parody music group is a hilarious parody of the crappy “Whisper” song by the Ying Yang Twins. Stay tuned for more parody rap songs like the Bing Bong Brothers.

The new hit song from the Bing Bong Brothers! Brought to you by: http://www.thelonelyisland…. You are free to copy, share and remix this video, under certain conditions. While less known than some of the other Lonely Island songs, Bing Bong Brothers has its own redeeming qualities. I always love a good parody song. And The Lonely Island are the best parody artists since Weird Al. Andy Samberg is quite possibly the greatest musical genius of our time. I’m kidding, but for real it is a really cool album. Incredibad is actually incredibly good.

Guru of Gang Starr Now In Stable Condition

Guru In Stable Condition

Multiple reputable news sources reported this week that legendary rapper Guru is in stable condition after suffering a heart attack and going into a medically induced coma following surgery to repair his heart.

Guru Now In Stable Condition, Says Rep. The rapper has been Diagnosed with Anoxia

It’s been almost a month since we first heard news of Guru’s heart attack, but this week new information regarding the legendary rapper’s status was released to the public.

Guru’s publicist said this week that his condition has been updated to “stable”, and also revealed that he’s been diagnosed with Anoxia, effects from a lengthy history of asthma and lung problems.

Medically defined “Anoxia” is a condition in which there is an absence of oxygen supply to an organ’s tissues although there is adequate blood flow to the tissue, says online medical websites.  The term is used to describe a condition that occurs in an organ when there is a diminished supply of oxygen to the organ’s tissues.

Guru is currently recovering after undergoing surgery and he  is no longer in a coma.

While statements have been released in Guru’s behalf since being hospitalized, they’ve caused controversy among the rapper’s family, raising questions from fans and the hip-hop community. In a press released issued Monday (March 22), reps for Guru said the rapper hasn’t been in contact with his former Gangstarr partner DJ Premier in over 7 years. Premier has expressed concern about Guru’s condition since the news broke, awaiting news just like everyone else. Apparently, the rapper’s camp wants to make it clear that no one, not even Premier, can release accurate info about Guru’s condition.

“That’s something I don’t want to talk about. I don’t want to talk about the past. The past is the past,” Guru said, according to the press release. “It is what it is. It was great, but that was then and this is now.” – Guru

At press time, it was unclear when Guru would be released from the hospital. However, his partner Solar said the rapper has been reading letters, emails and tweets from fans and is enjoying the support.

“The outpouring of love from around the world has been tremendous,” Solar said. “I’m reading some of the best e-mails, texts and Twitters that come in and Guru enjoys them. I think that’s what has been helping his recovery and what’s got him in there fighting.”

Update on Guru’s Condition

Hospitalized rapper GURU, formerly of Gang Starr has been diagnosed with suffering from low level s of oxygen, three weeks after he had a heart attack in New York.
The 43 year old, one half of pioneering hip-hop duo Gang Starr, collapsed on 28 February (10) and was admitted to a New York hospital, where he fell into a coma.
He underwent surgery earlier this month (Mar10) and doctors have been keeping a close eye on the star since awaking from his coma.
Guru, real name Keith Elam, has since been diagnosed with Anoxia, a condition where the body lacks an adequate supply of oxygen.
But the rapper’s condition is stable and he is making progress in his recovery, thanks to the warm wishes of support from fans.
Guru’s close friend and spokesman, MC Solar, tells AllHipHop.com, “The outpouring of love from around the world has been tremendous. I’m reading some of the best e-mails, texts and Twitters that come in and Guru enjoy s them. I think that’s what has been helping his recovery and what’s got him in there fighting.”

Guru Now in Stable Condition

How about a dose of good news to wrap up the week? After months of illness, rapper Guru is now said to be in stable condition. Guru’s publicist issued a statement earlier in the week informing fans that the rapper is no longer in critical condition.

Guru reportedly fell into a coma following his heart attack in February. His health issues sparked a rush of support from the hip-hop community. Several hip-hop artists, including Talib Kweli and Guru’s former collaborator DJ Premier, publicly called on fans to pray for the ailing rapper. According to reports, he has been diagnosed with Anoxia — a condition that arises from a lack of oxygen supply to an organ’s tissues.

The estranged relationship between Premier and Guru has been a running sidebar in the entire story. Guru said that he hasn’t spoken to Premier for years. “That’s something I don’t want to talk about,” Guru said in a recent statement. “I don’t want to talk about the past. The past is the past. It is what it is. It was great, but that was then and this is now.”

Shooting at Lloyd Center

Shooting at Lloyd Center

PORTLAND – A young man was arrested for attempted murder and another teen accused of trying to start a riot after gunfire erupted inside the busy Lloyd Center Mall Wednesday night, police said. A fight between rival gang members broke out around 6:30 p.m. and escalated into gunfire, police said, while the mall was packed with Spring Break shoppers. No one was injured but people inside the mall said it was a terrifying ordeal. “Definitely a real gun,” said eyewitness Steve Flakus. “(He) fired three rounds, one at the guy he had an altercation with, then two into the crowd of people I was looking at shoes with.” Officers just happened to be very close by and quickly swarmed the mall. They broke up the fight and found two handguns. “Officers determined that a 19-year-old male subject was targeted by the shooter and that multiple gunshots had been fired. The Gang Enforcement Team was already on scene and began investigating this incident as gang-related,” explained detective Mary Wheat, a spokeswoman for the Portland Police Bureau. “It was pretty wild,” said John Rodriguez, who works inside the mall. “I was terrified for my life.” Three people were taken into police custody for questioning, according to Wheat. She said police later arrested a 17-year-old man on one court of attempted murder and a 16-year-old boy on one count of riot. Names have not been released since both suspects are minors. No one was injured in the shooting, which police believe was gang-related. The mall was busy with Spring Break shoppers when the shots rang out.

Two youths charged after Lloyd Center brawl and shooting

A 17-year-old stands charged with attempted murder and a 16-year-old was charged with rioting in connection with a gang-related fight and shooting Wednesday evening at Lloyd Center Mall. Portland Police Officers were flagged down by mall security around 6:30 p.m., who reported that a large group of youths were clustered near the Foot Action store, fighting and firing gunshots. Officers broke up the fight and eventually recovered two handguns. Three teen boys were detained by police after officers determined they had allegedly targeted a 19-year-old man. No one was seriously wounded, police said. Gang Enforcement Team investigators reviewed surveillance video, interviewed witnesses and then narrowed in on the 17-year-old as the shooter. He was arrested for attempted murder and the 16-year-old was charged with one count of riot.

Gang officers were already working in Holladay Park across the street from the mall at the time of the incident, a heightened effort to reduce any possible violence during spring break.

2 Teens Arrested In Lloyd Center Shooting

PORTLAND, OR – Two teenagers were arrested Wednesday night after a shooting at the Lloyd Center mall in northeast Portland. Officers said the shooting occurred at about 6:30 p.m. when a large group of rival gang members got into a fight outside the Foot Action store. Witnesses said the incident escalated quickly. “The guy took a swing at him, he took a swing back, guy takes out a gun and fires once then fires two more times,” said witness Stephen Flakus. “And it was like, what just happened?” Frightened customers were seen rushing out of the mall after the gunshots rang out. Witness Jake Shaw said he heard “about five shots” and saw a man run toward the exit. Police left the mall to pursue the gunman after receiving tips he had headed north. Eventually, three people were detained and two handguns were recovered in connection with the shooting. Officers said they were able to identify the shooter as a 17-year-old boy. They arrested him later in the evening on a charge of attempted murder. Additionally, one 16-year-old boy was arrested on a charge of riot. There did not appear to be any serious injuries from the incident. Sgt. Tony Passadore, who responded to the shooting, said the shooting could have been much worse. “It’s a life-or-death situation in the blink of an eye,” he said. Fox 12 photojournalist Chris Rhoads and reporter Sophie Soong were with Passadore for a police ride-along when they responded to the mall shooting. Rhoads captured one teenager being detained on camera.

Gang enforcement officers were already in the Lloyd Center area prior to the shooting Wednesday night. Northeast precinct officers have been working daily at Holladay Park in an attempt to reduce any possible violence during spring break.

Although two people were arrested, Passadore said many more people were involved in the fight and shooting.

Dead Prez “Hip Hop” Music Video

Dead Prez

“Hip Hop” Music Video

Underground Hip-Hop banger “Hip Hop” by conscious rap group Dead Prez. Dead Prez is made up of emcees Stic.Man and M-1.

This revolution style video directed by Brian Beletic.

The Following is an excerpt from a review of the Dead Prez album RBG on RollingStones.com

Dead Prez were saying “stay outta school” well before Kanye West made dropping out of college his wedge issue. But since 2000’s Let’s Get Free, the Brooklyn militant-socialist vegetarian rap duo has been dealing with label woes and run-ins with the authorities. Its follow-up, Revolutionary But Gangsta (the title is a riff on black-nationalist colors red, black and green), has been in limbo for two years, but it still sounds fresh. Jay-Z lights up a remix of the brain-searing single “Hell Yeah (Pimp the System),” which describes scraping up scratch and sticking up the pizza guy. But Dead Prez are worlds away from standard-issue iced-up criminality: Over popping electro beats, Stic and M1 deliver lines such as “Modern-day slave conditions/Got me flippin’/Burgers with no power/Can’t even buy one with what I make in an hour.” Revolutionary But Gangsta is a vicious, conscious kick.

-LAURA SINAGRA

The following is an excerpt from a Geo Review of Dead Prez album RBG from GeoClan.com

After their critically acclaimed, Lets Get Free, the Stic-Man and M-1 found themselves in a state of flux. While their album received props for powerful songs like “Hip Hop”, and “They Schools” it also received hate for its content. In fact Columbia dropped the group from its contract after RBG was already finished, despite the fact that the album was highly anticipated. So what did they do next, well they went another route to get their message namely two mix tapes the Get Free Or Die Tryin’ series on their own label, Boss Up. Columbia recently decided to release the RBG album and while dead prez isn’t happy with the relationship with their company they get to show the world (those aware) the problems and frustrations of being a minority in this country. Dead prez finds a way to put substance over shine in this hot piece of work.

“Don’t Forget Where U Came From” starts the album off by telling what a gangsta is about and the rules of the game like No Snitching, Protect Self, Family and Community at all times, Each One, Teach One, Be Organized and Be Productive.

In “Walk Like A Warrior” the prez collaborate with Krayzie Bone to talk about the war going on in the streets and the relations with the government and the police. The bridge says that they aren’t talking about no hustlers or no gangsters in the familiar term but about being stand up when it comes to fighting oppression and stereotypes. This song sounds like a Middle Eastern piece with woodwinds in the background.

“I Have A Dream, Too” talks about the police and the injustices that happens around and because of bad police. In the end of the track, M-1 names of the people who were victims of injustice. The song starts off with a scenario of the police being chased and the people doing the chasing. What a reversal of fortunes.

The dead prez asks you are in it for the cause in “D.O.W.N. “ Many people and entities claim to be for the cause until the time to stand up arrives and they seem to move to the background. The DP’z give them a big shoutout on this cut.

The Grouch “ARTSY” Music Video

The Grouch kills this one. Possibly my favorite Grouch track this video definitely does it justice. The artistic style of the video is off the chains. Its abstract and all that. The Grouch is a dope underground hiphop artist.
